Udaipur – The Fairy Tale Wedding Destination

Over the Christmas break, I was invited to a family friend’s wedding to Udaipur, popularly known as the City of Lakes. I was quite excited as it was my first time to the city and I definitely wanted to explore all this beautiful place had to offer. The wedding functions itself were at one of the best resorts in UdaipurThe Ananta, Udaipur. I had around 6 days in the city out of which the first day I decided to explore the hotel. I was glad that I carried my swimwear to Udaipur as it is one of the best resorts with swimming. Having said that, I went for an early morning swim followed by a leisurely breakfast with an even more charming view. Post breakfast, I took to some pampering at the in-house spa and salon and it is a decision I do not regret. I freshened up to meet my friends for brunch where we met the to be bride and groom. The event featured live music, small pop-up stalls, delicious food, refreshing cocktails and brilliant décor. In the evening was the Cocktail followed by the Sangeet and Mehndi the next day and finally the wedding and reception. As all the events were majorly post 6 in the evening I decided to explore the city in the first half of the day.

On the second of the trip, I headed out to Lake Pichola and had an early lunch at their restaurants with a breath-taking view. This followed by a boat ride along the City Palace and Jag Niwas Island. The next five days I took to different adventures – some shopping, visits to the Heritage Hotel, horse riding and even a jeep safari. In all, this was indeed a memorable experience and adventure.
